James R. Morton
back to attorneys »JAMES R. MORTON, born in Chicago, Illinois. During law school, Jim worked in the Land Department of Shell Oil Company from 1977 to 1981, and was the manager of the Land Department’s title section in 1981 when he left to join the law firm of Monroe & Lemann. He then worked for Monroe & Lemann from 1981 to 1997 under his mentor in its real estate and oil and gas sections. In 1997 he formed Taggart Morton.
Jim has taught a real estate documents class as an adjunct Professor of Law at Loyola University from 1992 to 2004. From 1996 to 2002, Jim served on the Board of Directors of the New Orleans Legal Assistance Corporation. He was also on the Board of Directors of the New Orleans Bar Association from 1995 to 2001. He then served as the President of the New Orleans Bar Foundation from 2002 to 2005.
